Here’s a photo of one of the members of Fleshgod Apocalypse taken when they placed at The Bald Faced Stag last year.
I like this photo as it doesn’t feel like a musician performing. It feels like someone being passionate and perhaps engaging in the art of cheering, but I think that due to how it the show is framed it doesn’t quite feel like it was taken at a gig.
I do think the costuming works well with the light. Fleshgod Apocalypse dress in a (kind of) theatrical way that, combined with facial paint, (kind of) gives this appearance of fancy decay, for lack of better phrasing at the current moment. It’s a rather dramatic look suitable for the dramatic music this band creates. Whilst not entirely visible here, I think that at least part of what I’m trying to communicate regarding the lighting and costuming comes forward.
This photo was taken for Culture Eater. The gallery is viewable here, whilst the review is readable here.
I hope you enjoy.
