I like getting shots of drummers as often getting a good shot of them is a far greater challenge than other musicians on a stage.
That’s not to say that this is a good photo, although I do think it is; just saying that I like the challenge.
I think that the language of form becomes so much more important due to percussive instruments often being quite obscuring as well as how limbs are moving when compared to a few different instruments.
Anyway, here’s a shot of MONO’s drummer taken on Saturday night. There’s more shots of the gig on Culture Eater if you want to check them out.
I think I captured what kind of feels like an instinctual, natural moment, though it does kind of feel thoughtful.
I like how the drums feel quite large compared to Dahm. I think that has more to do with positioning than anything else.
This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness” for this week.
I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit.
A lot of what people are submitting will likely end up here.
I hope you enjoy.
