Five-Hundred Word Challenge 376: Another Return From Smiths Lake

Well, I’m back from the recent field trip back to Smiths Lake, although it would be more accurate to say that I have returned.

Actually, it would not probably be more accurate to say that.

Either way, I am back. Got back during Friday afternoon and am only writing about it now, for I have been lazy and resting and dealing with other things in life and would rather let all of this write itself rather than write it myself, but you cannot win them all, or so they say.

I do know that I am back at uni right now, sitting down and typing away.

The field trip was fine. It was enjoyable. It was not enough to sway my feelings on being at university, but it was still enjoyable for what it was and at this point what the field trip needed to be was enjoyable.

Did I learn a lot? Probably not.

I do not that I enjoyed being on the water and in the bush. I do know that I enjoyed slowly working my way through thickets of vegetation and doing grunt work.

I also know that I did not get Ross River fever, somehow.

Was very attractive to mosquitoes, but did not get any illnesses. I’m pretty sure that I was very lucky in that regard.

Other things that happened: counting, measuring, data compiling, reading, walking, photography, events of certain and considerable interest, and so on.

Being away from the city was as pleasant as it needed to be and enough of something to help me feel a little less tense.

I also know that by  the end of the field trip I was not feeling too happy and just wanted to get back home.

I think that I need a bit of a break at the moment.

I don’t know.

I do know that sitting here and having a bit of routine once more is something that is making it a bit easier to deal with the day at the moment, but the third coffee is going to overturn that very soon.

Sometimes I really love being in the bush. I don’t often enjoy being in the bush around  other people. Well, other people for a period longer than a couple of days.

I don’t know why. Perhaps people bother me to some extent. Perhaps I just prefer nature over people.

Still, people are something to love and appreciate at times.

Sorry. I’m rambling which is really surprising.

So I’m back from the field trip, enjoyed the views and the grunt work but overall am more happy to be back in Sydney despite my distaste for Sydney.

Being in the bush was great. It was nice that it felt refreshing in a sense and it was nice to be able tp do a bit of walking.

I guess that means that it points to something in the future, but what that is I do not know.

Only tomorrow will show me what is next.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 07:07:71

Well, this is really weak.

I’ve written better.

Written at UNSW.

About Stupidity Hole

I'm some guy that does stuff. Hoping to one day fill the internet with enough insane ramblings to impress a cannibal rat ship. I do more than I probably should. I have a page called MS Paint Masterpieces that you may be interested in checking out. I also co-run Culture Eater, an online zine for covering the arts among other things. We're on Patreon!
