Five-Hundred Word Challenge 368: Streets Glisten

The rain is falling and the plants are feeling as rejuvenated as they need to be.

Streets glisten from the water falling on them as the sun shines down on the earth, creating some sort of focused glow.

The streets are walked by the people, the light is reflected and the streets glisten and glow as the plants relish the rain and use this as an opportunity to respire in order to grow more than they usually would if the soil was dry.

I am at work and I am waiting for an occurrence to happen as there are calls to take and mistakes to make.

I sit here, waiting for the time to begin. Waiting for my time to be paid. I am waiting for the weather to clear so I can go and meet the glorious body of the ocean and feel the waves wash over me as I stand in the water, near the sand in order to be woken up and feel some sort of pleasant, peaceful sensation that I feel whenever I am there, as opposed to here, in this building of walls and bars and windows and doors.

Soon the space will be filled with the sound of voices chattering and tones ringing. Soon the space will be filled with the voices creating service for the customers. Soon the space will be filled with that which can only be heard, as atoms vibrate against each other, creating some sort of wave that passes through that our ears perceive as sound.

There are places that today I’d prefer to be, but the rain makes it fine to be where I currently am.

The rain would make it rather wonderful to be in the ocean, feeling water from all angles as the waves pass over me and knock me about as I try to ride them toward the shore in some sort of endless dance.

The sand would feel as solid as it would not.

The sky would stretch on forever and meet the ocean at a point where my eyes would not be able to see any further.

The world would expand beyond my range of seeing and be as massive as I am small in comparison to its massiveness.

I would see the grass, the trees, the land and the animals wherever I would see, so long as they were in my range of seeing.

I would write something about the beauty and wonderment of the world, but not be able to truly express just how amazing it is as, whilst words can described and express, they can only do so much, for the world is far grander than my small words. It is something that needs to be experiences in full in order to truly understand and enjoy its amazing nature that is as available to all as it is available to some.

The world is as epic as it is overwhelming, and it is a wonderful place, especially on days like today.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:15:35

I think I was aiming for the poetic with this bit of text.

I don’t think I was successful.

Written at work.
