I was at Ballast Point Park recently when I saw this and decided to take a photo as I liked how it looked.
After doing some minor research, I’ve found out that this is quoted from the poem The Death of Isaac Newton by Les Murray. It makes one think.
I like the contrast between the different tones in this shot, as well as the patterns created by the shadows.
The area kind of feels like a reminder of what the Balmain and Birchgrove area used to be like, whilst at the same time feeling almost like a hollow gesture trying to masquerade as a reminder due to gentrification taking over.
Either way, I like this structure and the area that it’s in, although I do wish that it came across as a little more authentic.
This is my entry into Leanne Cole‘s Monochrome Madness for this week.
I recommend that you check out what other people are submitting and perhaps consider submitting something yourself.
I also recommend checking out Leanne Cole’s other work.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
