Easter: It is a time of eating chocolate and celebration. For some, it is a time to relax from work and get paid for relaxing.
There are many reasons as to why people enjoy Easter, but few people know how it all began.
A long time ago in the annuls of history, there was a chicken. This chicken knew not many a thing, and yet it was still as wise and ancient as the cosmos.
Eventually it decided to go on a sabbatical from being wise and ancient and traveled the world in order to obtain new experiences.
During its journeys it came across many a thing, both above and under the earth, as well as in the ocean, especially areas so deep that not even light had a chance of reaching the inhabitants that lurked in the darkened, high-pressure waters.
When it returned, it was as satisfied as it could be at that point in time, for the chicken was one that did not get satisfied often, and when it did the satisfaction was little for it was always looking for something else to learn about, as well as which methods would be used to assist in learning.
Shortly after returning from its trip, the chicken learned about the possibility of a rabbit being born from an egg. In learning of this, the chicken decided to find out how.
During the process, it discovered that an egg had indeed been laid and that there was a high chance that a rabbit would be hatching from the egg, due to the egg having indents for where the ears of a rabbit would sit comfortably without being horribly folded over.
It also discovered that, much to the complete surprise of everyone, the egg belonged to said chicken.
So another journey the chicken did indeed set out upon to witness the hatching of its child and witnessing the hatching of a chick from an odd-shaped egg is what it ended up experiencing.
No, the possibility was entirely false. However, not being disappointed, the chicken raised its child to be fair and just to all and to seek knowledge, yet not override other needs, for knowledge can be as powerful as it can be a source of suffering.
Meanwhile, while this was all happening, a rabbit born from the soil of the earth emerged in a slow, matter-of-fact manner, for the egg had hatched and the call was heard. The hour was approaching in which its destiny would begin to be revealed and it would need to fulfill what was required of it sooner rather than later.
It ran faster than anything before its existence and made a leap of great gusto into the sky.
The sun rose as this was happening.
Then, whilst it was airborne, a giant egg rose to take it in before shrinking back down to a more regular size.
And then the miracle of birth happened.
You see, when the egg swallowed the rabbit, it was in a symbolic gesture for the rabbit to be reborn as the Easter bilby, consumer of tortured souls and supplier of great delicacies in April.
And that’s how Easter came to be.
