Usually when I’m working in the mornings and I’m walking up to work I get to pass a bunch of people who appear to be praying. They’re usually quite fervent with their praying and at what they are praying toward and never seem to cause a ruckus. However, they are praying in protest as they are protesting an abortion clinic.
There’s many reasons as to why people get abortions.
A significantly small amount of them have to do with “can’t be bothered having protected sex, taking the contraception pill or the morning after pill”.
Don’t hide your ignorant prejudice behind religion because you decided that the best way to go through society is to remain as ignorant as much as possible because you think that your god will be appeased if you start forcing your bullshit down other people’s throats in your attempts to try and make the world a worse place because you somehow think that you’ll be inconvenienced if the population doesn’t grow faster than it already is.
Would you really want more people brought into a world when there’s a chance that they might not be able to be looked after because their birth ended up causing a bunch of preventable problems?
As George Carlin once said, these people don’t care about the child once it’s born. It’s not “their” problem any more. They only care when it’s in the womb. They’re not going to help raise the child once it’s born. These people are anti-women.
Whilst I find myself disappointed by their backward views, I’m completely disgusted by the fact that some of them seem to think that it’s acceptable to bomb abortion clinics, or gun down people who are involved with them in some manner. What the fuck is wrong with you?
Plenty of people who are religious would say that people who do this don’t represent them.
Despite many of them hiding behind religion to justify their prejudice, unfortunately the do represent your religion (or at least parts of it) whether you like it or not because they are still a part of the community.
With that being said, I understand that many religious communities out there work hard to show that there is plenty of positive coming out of them.
Whilst I myself am not religious, I do think that religion can be a good thing at times for some people.
I’m neither anti-religious or pro-religious. I’m anti-willfully-ignorant-assholes.
It really pisses me off that people think they have a right to try and prevent something that, whilst can lead to a horrible experience, is ultimately for the benefit of people just because they don’t want to go through the process of critical thought, learning, understanding and minding their own fucking business.
Furthermore to this, I can only guess that pro-lifers would end up attacking anyone who is scared away from using one of these clinics if they then had to struggle to raise the child and weren’t doing as good a job as what they thought was required, despite any reasons as to why, such as the child being born from assault, the parent being a single parent, or their ending up being scared into avoiding the clinic and thus preventing a bad situation from getting worse.
With all of that being said, if their god cared then it would probably take care of the issue itself, or already has.
