Thoughtless is my mind at the moment.
Blank and desolate.
An open expanse of nothingness.
A vast dessert stretches out in front of me.
I wear a stern look on my face, not knowing where to go or where to wander.
I move forward to try and see if I can find anything whilst clouds build up above me in the sky.
I walk for a long time, seeing nothing but a featureless field of rock, dirt and sand.
On occasion, there are various shrubs and a creature or two, but otherwise, nothing of significance seems to pop out around me as I continue to wander, looking for something that could possibly point me in the right direction.
Not necessarily to civilisation, but to inspiration away from constant perspiration.
Winds begin to pick up and rain starts to fall.
I cannot see shelter anywhere around me, so I begin to run before the rain gets heavy.
I run for a long time against the wind and soon I see some large object.
I decide to pick up my pace as the sooner I get there, the sooner I may be able to avoid getting caught in heavy rain that will fill the void.
The closer I get, the more it looks like shelter.
However, before I can reach it, the rain becomes heavy and the winds become strong.
I keep on moving forward though, as if I don’t stop, then soon I will be swimming there.
I get close and soon I see that it is a large rock formation with a cave.
I get into the cave and out of the rain.
It is leading upwards, but I do not follow it as I must continue my journey outside once the rain lifts.
It takes days for it to stop.
Once it does, I step outside. It looks as though it did not rain at all.
I continue walking through the dry and end up stumbling across an oasis.
I decide to continue on though as I need to find something to use that will keep me going on and get me out of this empty place that I’ve stupidly put myself in for no reason other than to search for something that I probably never needed to look for in the first place.
After many more days of walking, I being to feel as though I am dragging a heavy weight.
My lips are dry and my skin is cracking.
My joints are aching and I begin to feel as though I am unable to continue any further than I already have.
I fall to the groun and do not feel as though I have the strength to get up.
Oh, why, oh why, oh why did I have to end up in this great dessert?
Wait… it’s a dessert?
Not noticing this before, I decide to take a bite out of the ground and find that it tastes like a well-made chocolate pudding.
It’s so wonderfully delicious.
The time it took to write five-hundred words: 9:19:38
Alright, so the idea with this was originally to write something that was kind of serious and not cheesy. I know that I wanted to use the desert. However, whilst I was thinking about writing this (and before I started), I decided that it turning out to be a giant dessert would be better, as I wanted to make this silly.
Written at my desk at home.
